Box Office Collection Update: Abhishek Varman’s Directorial ‘Kalank’ Had a Lack Luster Extended Opening Weekend, Croses 66.03 Crores in Five Days

Though the film was expected to get into a 100 crores club in a few days post the release and the film is able to collect only 66.04 crores in five days.

Varun-Alia starrer Kalank is performing disgracefully since Day 2. Though the film was expected to enter 100 crores club in a few days of its release. But, the film has been able to collect only 66.04 crores in five days.

The film is grossing slowly since its second day with the collection of 11.24 crores and further progressed on its third day with the collection little higher than its second day of around 11.60 crores.

Though it was expected that the film might do well to get into 100 crores track with the weekend’s collection. However, Abhishek Varman directorial’s extremely poor performance indicates that the film will be soon replaced by Avengers Endgame which is going to release this week. Instead of the advantage of extended opening weekend, the film did not play well on the cards.


On the other side, Vivek Agnihotri’s directorial ‘The Tashkent files’ despite the limited screenings is performing well and has collected around 5.80 crores. Besides, The Tashkent Files, ‘Badla’ continues to roll at the theatres and has reached 88.02 crores in its seventh week.

The Multistarrer casts Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, and  Aditya Roy Kapur among others. The film set in the 1940s is a love saga which revolves about love battle between different souls and will ponder upon it in different layers.

Though the film did a wonderful opening breaking all the records of the biggest hits of 2019 with the total earning of around 21.60 crores. But was not able to keep the performance at the same track beyond the first day.

It is said that it was Karan’s father wish to produce this film and that’s is why it is believed to be much closer to Karan’s heart. Also, it is one of the Grandest Film Karan Johar has made in his life with a lot of spending from the cast, to the set made worth around 10-15 crores. It could be said that the reason for such low performance is those memes and negative remarks made by film analysts which flooded the social media immediately after the release.
